About Us

Natural England and five local authorities ( Cannock Chase Council, Lichfield District Council, South Staffordshire Council, Stafford Borough Council and Staffordshire County Council) fund and support the work of the Cannock Chase AONB Unit and implementation of the Cannock Chase AONB Management Plan. Additional work on specific projects is carried out by a range of AONB partners. The AONB Unit is made up of an AONB Officer, Assistant AONB Officer and Office Manager.

The Partnership Management and Governance arrangements were introduced in Autumn 2003 to enable a wide range of opportunities for people and organisations to make their views known regarding AONB matters. The organisational structure includes an Annual Conference and an AONB Parish Council Meeting that feeds in to an Advisory Partnership who in turn advise a Joint Committee with delegated powers to make decisions. The AONB Unit undertakes technical work to support these arrangements.

In order to ensure continuity and commitment, a constitution is in place for the Joint Committee, together with terms of reference for each of the other contributing bodies.

Cannock Chase AONB Unit and partners try to offer as many opportunities as possible for comment and involvement in AONB matters, for example, through meetings, events, websites, publications and newsletters.
